It's hard to capture more than 20 years of business communications and public relations work in one place. The Strategic Planning and Writing pages on this site give links to a few samples of Sally's work. Here are some more examples showing the diversity and quality of her work. Samples are not available for many projects, often due to their confidential or proprietary contents. As the marketing manager for the inaugural, national Electronic Security Expo, Sally was responsible for the direct mail campaign, print ads, e-blasts and e-newsletters, and conference catalog. For the IT ExecuTrends conference, Sally secured and managed all the speakers and was responsible for the catalog and other print pieces. The North Carolina 4-H program wanted to become a more inclusive organization. Sally was the lead developer and writer of Take a Walk in My Shoes, a 12-lesson curriculum designed to raise awareness among third to sixth graders about people with disabilities or disabling illnesses. 4H youth participating in the program "experienced" and learned more about disabilities in this hands-on, experiential learning program. Sally also created the promotional materials for parents, volunteers and youth. Media releases are a staple in most public relations campaigns. Here's one of hundreds Sally has written -- this one announcing the presentation of the Glaxo Smith Kline IMPACT Award to Diabetes Management Solutions. Communicating with and about people with disabilities can make some people uncomfortable. Sally wrote a guide with tips and strategies to promote accessible communication. She has also edited materials regarding universal design, making facilities more functional for people of all abilities. Newsletters, either print or electronic, are still popular forms of communicating with internal and external clients. Generally, Sally is responsible for all the content, including ghostwriting articles to be published under others' names. The primary style guide Sally uses is Associated Press. However, brand standards for organizations and companies expand well beyond the selection of writing and punctuation styles. Sally works with organizations to create brand standards and customized style guides to fit their image, from how to properly use the company logo to 10-second elevator speeches that employees can use in describing the company. Brochures can be effective tools for promoting, educating and/or influencing target audiences. A brochure can take many forms, including the ITI brochure which also serves as a pocket folder. Sally has planned numerous events and teaches event planning and public relations at Meredith College, the largest women's college in the Southeast. Most of the graphic design for the selected samples on this site was done by Lorraine Woodward of Woodward Communications. |
