North Carolina’s teacher shortage was the focus of the Teach4NC campaign implemented by the North Carolina Business Committee for Education in the Office of the Governor. The goal was to drive potential lateral-entry teachers to the N.C. Department of Public Instruction website. This was done through county-by-county media relations efforts, TV and radio public service announcements featuring first lady Mary Easley, partnership with the N.C. Employment Security Commission, a press conference featuring the governor, advertising, communications with chambers of commerce, school superintendents and leading businesses, and other tools.
• • • • Wake County Human Services wanted a fresh way to deliver its annual report. Calendars were created in multiple years to provide internal and external stakeholders with insights about the organization’s services and the people it serves. You could find these calendars across the county -- in public schools, libraries, churches, WCHS facilities and more. (First page in linked calendar is intentionally blank.) • • • • More than 7,000 North Carolinians with developmental disabilities were waiting for much-needed services. State budget increases were critical to providing these services. A comprehensive campaign to educate state legislators as well as local policymakers about people with developmental and their families and their needs was implemented. Components of this campaign included legislative updates, editorials, targeted media relations, brochures and grassroots training materials for self-advocates. |
